More than 65 Oregon food and beverage vendors will gather Dec. 7 in Portland for the holiday Eat Oregon Now market.
The event is designed to highlight new and growing and promote giving local products as holiday gifts.
This year’s event will take place at The Redd on Salmon, at 831 S.E. Salmon St., a campus created by the nonprofit Ecotrust to serve as a hub for food startups.
“I think Eat Oregon Now is important for a few reasons. While food and beverage makers are part of traditional holiday events such as Crafty Wonderland and Night Market, it’s a really fun and festive event to have so many food and beverage entrepreneurs in the same room,” said organizer Susan Laarman. “They work hard but always make sure to have fun because they love what they do.”
Eat Oregon Now started as a project last year to promote local entrepreneurs. Last year’s event attracted some 2,000 people attend, Laarman said. Early events were held in 2018 in conjunction with Oregon Entrepreneurs Network, which has expanded its focus to include supporting food and beverage founders.
With this year’s holiday event, Eat Oregon Now added more support organizations: retailer Market of Choice, the Getting your Recipe to Market program of Portland Community College and the Oregon State University Food Innovation Center.
